Jimmy volunteered with FDNC for three months in 2006. He mostly worked
as a consultant to the vocational school. Jimmy helped to develop sustainable
income-generating projects to improve practical education, reduce reliance on
foreign donors, and to create a sustainable capital tools endowment. He also
overhauled the school canteen, worked with sports programs, developed marketing
initiatives for the art and design department, and led a leadership development
seminar for the entire staff. A 2007 Notre Dame graduate, Jimmy has also lived
and volunteered in impoverished communities in India and Poland. He will be
returning to Uganda in September to teach and work with community development
organizations in Jinja while also continuing to strengthen his ties to FDNC.
